Easter at St Mary’s

Eastertide at St Mary’s aims to provide a range of services for families and individuals who wish both to commemorate Christ’s crucifixion and celebrate His resurrection.

Palm Sunday – 24th March

This year, the fourth Sunday in March falls on Palm Sunday.  The plan is to have a Palm Sunday Procession Sandwich!  

9.30am  – We will be starting with a Family Café Church breakfast with an informal café style service.

10.15am  – We will then be going out for our traditional Palm Sunday Procession through the village along Church Lane, the High Street and back to the church via Church Road.

10.30am –  There will be a more traditional Palm Sunday Service in the church.

Maundy Thursday – 28th March

10.00am at St Mary’s – the monthly service of Celtic Communion will be held, followed at

10.30am  – by the St Mary’s Tea and Coffee morning.

All are welcome to both or either events.

 

 

 

 

7.30pm at St Barnabas, Warmley there will be a reading of part of THE MAN BORN TO BE KING  by Dorothy Sayer. This was part of a cycle of plays written during the Second World War by Dorothy L Sayers. This part of the cycle is centred on The Last Supper which is commemorated on Maundy Thursday.

Following the production, there will be a benefice Service of Holy Communion.

Good Friday – 29th March

10.30am  – Easter Experience:  A family friendly interactive Easter experience will take place in St Mary’s with activities at different stations around the church.

2.00pm – Service of Meditation remembering the last hour before Jesus died.

EASTER SUNDAY – 31st March

8.00am – Holy Communion: Our Easter celebrations begin with a quiet service of Holy Communion to celebrate that Jesus is Risen.

10.30am – Easter Celebration Communion:  Our main service is one for all the family and includes communion for those who wish to take it.  All are welcome.  It is followed at

11.30am – EASTER EGG HUNT.  Our famous Easter Egg Hunt for children will take place in the churchyard. How many chocolate eggs can you find.  (Times may vary depending on the conclusion of the preceding service).  All welcome.
