On Saturday 22nd June a visiting band of bell ringers will be ringing a quarter peal on St Mary’s bells.
The team whose members usually ring at St Mary Redcliffe, and St Saviour, Coalpit Heath, intend to ring a method called Cambridge Surprise Major (Major denotes all 8 bells will be changing position). This is a very complicated method requiring very capable ringers.
When completed the method will be registered as a performance onto the national database, but for that the team will need to complete 1250 different changes over 45 minutes.
Start time will be between 1030 and 1100.
