 Alongside the work to prepare a new Electoral Roll, the Parochial Church Council of St Mary’s is taking the opportunity to update its communication arrangements and to ensure that it continues to manage any personal data in full compliance with Date Protection Regulations.

This is not a part of the application process for inclusion on the Electoral Roll.  This information is simply being requested so that we can keep you informed about church events, services etc. whether or not you are on the electoral roll.

The PCC would like you to provide  both a mobile phone number and an email address which can be used, subject to your agreement, in the following ways:

  • In case of urgency to alert you to any important matter by SMS (text message).
  • To establish St Mary’s WhatsApp Groups
  • To update you about services, events and developments at St Mary’s or in the benefice of Bitton, Syston and Warmley and any relevant community events.
  • To understand if you have any special requirements in respect of attendance at St Mary’s in respect of health or disability so that we can meet them or any reasonable adjustment that you would like us to consider.

Data Protection

A copy of our Data Privacy Notice may be found on our website. We do not share your information with third parties outside of the church.  It is treated confidentially and is shared only with your consent.

Your personal information will be collated in a Church Directory held by the Secretary to the Parochial Church Council.  Information will be made available to designated members of the PCC for the purposes of contacting you on church or community matters.  With your agreement, your name, telephone number and email address may also be shared with other church members.

Your email address will be the principal channel for communication with you on church and relevant community matters.  Emails may be sent to you directly or using an intermediate channel such as Mailchimp. Where an email is sent to several people at the same time this will be done in such a way as to prevent the disclosure of your address from other recipients.

Your mobile telephone number may be used to contact you directly  on church or community matters by voice or SMS and will also be used to create  WhatsApp Groups for church information and engagement, should you wish to join. It is not possible to hide your contact from others in the group if you do.
