Christingle – Thank you for coming

Our Christingle Service was a lovely event, and took place last Sunday at St Mary’s.  It raises money for the Children’s Society and is a celebration of the light and love of Christ, which we mark in the gloom of January.

Christingles are oranges wrapped in red tape, decorated with dried fruit or sweets, with a candle on the top.

Each element of a Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the Christian story:

  • The orange represents the world
  • The red tape symbolises the love and blood of Christ
  • The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations

The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.

Thank you for those who attended  this joyful service and apologies for the problems with our IT.
