Bitton History Group meets this evening, at St Mary’s Church, to hear a presentation by Bridget Hetzel on the work to record and make available the churchyard records of St Mary’s.
Over the past 20 years, Bridget and a team of local volunteers, mapped and recorded the details of every existing memorial in the churchyard. Her work now forms a database enabling visitors and genealogists to access the records including photographs of the gravestones, complete with transcriptions of the inscriptions.
